What can be sold on Crochet Union:
Crochet Union is a marketplace meant for the sale of PDF crochet patterns. Approved Vendors can customize their shop and list PDF crochet patterns that they have designed themselves, and have been tested by two or more testers, tech edited, or both.
What can’t be sold on Crochet Union:
Crochet Union is meant for the sale of PDF crochet patterns and nothing else. You may not list any product other than a PDF crochet pattern that meets our requirements.
Any listings for anything other than a PDF crochet pattern that meets the requirements on the page linked above will be removed from the site promptly, and the Vendor who listed it will be put under review.
If your shop is put under review, you will be notified through the email entered on the application screen and/or your profile.
If you believe your shop was put under review in error, please let the Crochet Union Team know in your first reply to our email, or email us at crochetunion@gmail.com.
Selling Fees:
Selling fees taken from each transaction made on Crochet Union are outlined on our Fees, Commissions, and Payments Policy Page.
Using Crochet Union:
In this section we will outline the guidelines and requirements Vendors must follow when using Crochet Union.
Applying to Become a Vendor:
All logged out users are able to see a button in the navigation bar that says “Become a Vendor”. Clicking this button will take you to a page where you can fill out the forms required to apply to become a Vendor.
Vendor application must be filled as completely and truthfully as possible to be considered.
After application is completed, you will be emailed with a confirmation that your application has been received by the Crochet Union Team.
Applications are usually approved or denied within 1-24 hours, but can take up to 3 days depending on how busy the Crochet Union Team is. If you do not hear back within those 3 days, please email the Crochet Union Team at crochetunion@gmail.com
If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to set your password and to start setting up your shop. All documentation on setting up a shop can be found in the Designer Help Guides.
If your application is denied, you will receive an email with the reason the Crochet Union Team denied it.
Reasons for application denial are usually one of the following:
- Application was not fully filled out, or was filled out incorrectly
- Uploaded pattern did not meet our standards
- Designer designs patterns for a mature audience
- Designer already has a shop with us.
How to Manage your Shop:
All settings and shop management tools can be found in the Vendor Dashboard, which when logged in to the site, you will always be able to access through the link on the navigation bar of the Crochet Union site.
There is copious documentation on setting up and managing your shop in our Designer Help Guides. The Designer Help Guides are a collection of articles outlining the steps to properly set up and run a shop on Crochet Union, as well as many articles on designing crochet patterns to meet our standards outlined in on the Pattern Requirements page.
Vendor Requirements:
Vendors, once approved, are required to fill out the Address form in their Vendor Dashboard so taxes can be calculated properly.
Vendors are required to fully and truthfully fill out their Profile information found in their Vendor Dashboard.
Vendors are required to complete their shop information, found in the Vendor Dashboard, before listing any patterns.
Vendors are required to make sure any patterns uploaded follow the Pattern Requirements.
Taxes and Tax Requirements:
Vendors are required to be responsible for all of their own taxes. Crochet Union offers limited tax software to calculate and charge sales taxes, but Vendors are required to calculate and pay their own taxes.
Crochet Union will be responsible only for:
Paying the taxes due on commissions and other revenue paid out to Crochet Union.
Providing limited software to calculate and charge sales taxes.
Paying the charged sales taxes to Vendors, as well as giving the information necessary from each transaction to calculate taxes.
Designing and Uploading Patterns for Sale:
Approved vendors who have completed their shop and profile information are welcome and encouraged to upload any patterns that meet our Pattern Requirements.
Documentation on how to make sure your pattern(s) meet our requirements and how to list them for sale on Crochet Union can be found in the Designer Help Guides.
Communication Standards:
When communicating with either a Maker, another Vendor, or a Crochet Union Team Member, Vendors must agree to be kind at all times. As a Vendor, to Makers you represent Crochet Union and we want our own reputation to be one of always being kind and helpful, especially when it’s hard to be.
As a Vendor, you will occasionally receive a message called an Inquiry. This is simply a question from a Maker regarding your patterns or shop. You are required to reply to any and all serious Inquiries in a reasonable amount of time, while remaining kind and professional.
Reviews and Disputes:
Reviews:
Makers who buy a pattern from your shop are then allowed to leave a review on your pattern and/or your shop. An average of the star ratings you get in reviews will be shown in search results.
Unfair reviews should be reported to a Crochet Union Team member at crochetunion@gmail.com for moderation. All reviews are currently set to be approved by a Crochet Union Team member before being shown on both the pattern and the shop of a Vendor. However, unfair reviews will slip through occasionally. Reviews on a pattern should only contain ratings based solely on that specific pattern.
Disputes:
Any and all disputes with a Maker or another Vendor will be moderated by a Crochet Union Team member. If you have a dispute, please try to resolve the issue calmly and kindly before contacting the Crochet Union Team. If that fails, email the Crochet Union Team at crochetunion@gmail.com for moderation.
Vendor Protection:
Crochet Union is dedicated to our Vendors, and we will do what we can to protect you and your reputation and rights as a Designer on our website. This is limited to what we can do on our website, and we will not be able to protect you from anything happening off of our website.
Every once in a while a corrupt designer who scrapes patterns will likely slip through our vetting process. If you believe your pattern has been scraped and listed on our website under another shop, or you believe another designer’s pattern has been scraped, please contact the Crochet Union Team. In addition to scraped patterns, please report a corrupt or unprofessional designer to the Crochet Union Team as soon as possible at crochetunion@gmail.com.
Maker Protection:
Crochet Union is also dedicated to our Makers, and we will do what we can do to protect them from sub-par patterns and scams. If you are reported as having listed a pattern that doesn’t meet the requirements listed on our Pattern Requirements page, you will be put under review. This mainly applies to copyright infringement and the banned types of patterns.
If your shop is put under review, you will be notified through the email entered on the application screen and/or your profile. If you believe your shop was put under review in error, please let the Crochet Union Team know in your first reply to our email, or email us at crochetunion@gmail.com.
