We at Crochet Union believe that crochet designers are massively underpaid for the work they do, and we want to change that. This is why we only charge a flat 5% fee. We don’t charge listing fees, subscription fees, or any other kind of fee. We can’t do much about PayPal fees, but  we have created a zero fee Bank Transfer option for withdrawal to maximize Vendor profits.

Commission Avoidance:

If a Vendor takes any action to avoid paying commission fees it will be considered commission avoidance, which is strictly prohibited by Crochet Union. It’s also just wrong on a number of levels. Encouraging a Maker to purchase a pattern through another marketplace though Crochet Union is considered commission avoidance.

Commission avoidance will result in suspension of a Vendor’s account and may even lead to deletion of their shop.

While we’d love to give out our services for free, we also need to support ourselves and our families. We believe we are the best marketplace for selling crochet patterns, and with the lowest and least fees. 

We reserve the right to change fees as needed based on inflation and maintenance cost increases.

Paying Out Commission:

Any outstanding commission fees should be paid by 3rd of each month and no later than the 15th. You will be sent an invoice on the 1st of each month for the previous month’s commission. Failure to pay out commission will result in suspension of your shop. 

Suspension means your shop will be hidden from search results and links will no longer work. Penalized shops will be unsuspended as soon as commission payment is received. If commission fees go unpaid for four (4) months in succession, your Vendor account and shop will be deleted.

Reactivated shop links will work as before, with no search penalty for having been suspended.

Crochet Union Payment Services:

Payment services offered by Crochet Union to both Makers and Vendors are on an as-is basis. Any glitches or bugs should be brought to the attention of the Crochet Union Team as soon as possible, reach us at crochetunion@gmail.com.

Taxes:

Vendors are required to be responsible for all of their own taxes. Crochet Union offers limited tax software to calculate and charge sales taxes, but Vendors are required to calculate and pay their own taxes.

Crochet Union will be responsible only for: 

Paying the taxes due on commissions and other revenue paid out to Crochet Union.

Providing limited software to calculate and charge sales taxes.

Paying the charged sales taxes to Vendors, as well as giving the information necessary from each transaction to calculate taxes.

Coupons:

Vendors may choose to create coupons for their patterns, either as a sale or as an incentive to sign up to their email list, or however they wish to use them. 

However, coupons do not change the way commission is calculated. 

For instance:

If you have a pattern listed for $4 USD and a maker uses a coupon you gave them that brings the price down to $2 USD, the commission is still charged at 5% of $4 USD.
